The Grand Théâtre de Genève has existed in its current buildings since 1879.

Materials pre-dating 1951, mostly programme notes and photographic inventories of painted sets on canvas, are conserved in our archive.

The archives of the Grand Théâtre reflect its range of activities of th since its reopening in 1962. They contain production files, correspondence, programmes, costume and set designs, press articles and reviews, promotional material and two important photographic and audiovisual collections. They also give an account of its administrative management and governance.

A private archive fund in the City of Geneva Archives (1894-2001) is available as a complementary archival source.

In the near future, a new tool will make it possible to browse the inventories and select digitized documents illustrating certain parts of the collections.
